I have always loved a starburst mirror.  Especially over a bed.  There is something so timeless about them and they look good with lots of different decor.  Making a starburst mirror is so easy.  And cheap.  I am telling you guys, I almost don’t have to write up a tutorial.  But I am gonna anyway.

Make your own starburst mirror. So cheap and easy.

You only need a few supplies:

I wanted mine silver so I got some silver spray paint.  You need some skewers.  I got the small mirrors from hobby lobby.  They were around $3.  I got a package of random sizes because that is the look I was going for.  You also need a piece of cardboard to cut a circle out of.  I just used an old moving box.  For the mirror in the middle, that is actually a car part.  I got it at Walmart.

Its a convex mirror that I got in the automotive section.  It comes with a black plastic ring around it.  You can leave that on or pop it off.  I chose to pop mine off.  I just inserted a screw driver underneath it and pried it off.

Since I wanted my skewers silver, I put them in a box and spray painted them.

From that same cardboard box, we are going to cut a circle.  Take your middle mirror and trace it.  Then cut the circle out just smaller.

Now it’s time to assemble.

Hot glue all your skewers on to the cardboard circle.

Then arrange the mirrors and hot glue them on.

So Simple and quick.  To hang it, I borrowed a trick from Craftaholics Anonymous.

She hung some plates by super gluing safety pins to the backs.  So I just super glued a safety pin here.  It stays really well.  The starburst mirror is so light weight that this method works really well.

Now you are done the only thing left is to hang it up.

I really love it but best of all my kiddos were so impressed.  They kept bringing their friends in to see it and saying look what my mom made.  I just love showing them they can be creative and having them love the final result.

What do you think?  Do you love a starburst mirror as much as I do?
